Rapid Tap is one of the latest technologies to make your keyboard even more powerful. Here's how to increase your odds.
We appreciate everyone who has helped us beta test our Rapid Tap feature, and we are happy to roll it out for all users of SteelSeries GG now. With the release of GG 70, all Apex Pro keyboard users can enable Rapid Tap to use this new, powerful feature.
Rapid Tap is our take on SOCD — Simultaneous Opposing Cardinal Directions. This allows you to keep holding down a button, and then press another, and your newly pressed down key takes priority. This is huge for strafing in shooter games, allowing you to have even better, more responsive movement and aim.
It's also often used in rhythm and fighting games, where all kinds of applications of Rapid Tap can take your game to the next level.
Rapid Tap Compatibility
Rapid Tap is available for Apex Pro users, including both 2019 and 2023 models of various sizes (Fullsize, TKL, Mini). Wireless or wired does not matter.
Make sure that your SteelSeries GG software is updated.
You can find information about your GG Version under Settings > scroll down to About > Check for updates.
How to enable Rapid Tap
Click on your Apex Pro keyboard while in the Engine menu. A window to configure your keyboard shows up.
In that window, go to the "Actuation" tab, and then look to the right. Under Rapid Trigger Sensitivity, there is a new setting for Rapid Tap.
Click the slider to enable Rapid Tap. When the slider is blue and to the right, that means it's active. Click it again to disable it.
Alternatively, you can enable and disable Rapid Tap with a keyboard shortcut. Press the SteelSeries key + Q to toggle Rapid tap on and off.
Important: Please note that in Counter-Strike 2, using Rapid Tap is banned per the announcement from Valve. We are not responsible for any banned accounts!
How to assign keys for Rapid Tap
By default, Rapid Tap pairs A and D, but you can change that.
Simply click on your currently assigned Key 1 and then press whatever key you want it to be. Do it similarly for Key 2.
Click the + icon to keep adding more button pairs, up to 5.
We're thrilled to bring even more competitive technology to the market and continuously push our Apex Pro to be the best keyboards in the world. Our committment to bring these features to existing Apex Pro users through firmware updates remains in place. But if you aren't a lucky owner of a gaming keyboard from SteelSeries, what are you waiting for?
